ST PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Post University men's tennis team split two matches on its final day in Florida on Friday. The Eagles defeated regional for St. Michael's 9-0 and fell to Eckerd 5-4.
Against Saint Michael's, junior
Nikola Crvelin (Kaštel Lukšic, Croatia) grabbed a 6-1, 6-2 victory in No. 1 singles over Ben Lambert. Sophomores
Ivan Rajevac (Dubrovnik, Croatia) and
Peter Rossel (Vienna, Austria) each took their matches by scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Crvelin and Rajevac earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Rossel and junior
Ludvig Henrikson (Taby, Sweden) defeated Ben Lambert and Partick Dietz 8-3 while freshmen
Samuel Urban (Košice, Slovakia) and
Joe Alvord (Southbury, Conn.) won 8-2.
The duo of Crvelin and Rajevac earned the Eagles' only doubles point against Eckerd with an 8-3 win over Victory Appelqvist and Alasdair Knox. Both of them also won their singles matches. Crveling outlasted Appelqvist in three sets 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Rajevac took down Eddie Lewis 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Urban earned the final point Post with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Connor Masella at No. 5 singles.
Post visits regionally-ranked Merrimack on Thursday, March 23 at 12 p.m. The Warriors are ranked sixth in the East, while Post currently sit at ninth.
