CLERMONT, Fla. – The Post University softball team lost two hard-fought games on day two of the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. on Monday. The Eagles comeback fell short against Bemidji State in a 7-6 loss. Post also fell to Ferris State 1-0 in the afternoon game.

Seniors
Kristen Owens (Exton, Pa.),
Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.), and
Kate Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) each drew walks in the first inning to give Post a 2-0 lead early. After a flyout to being the bottom of the frame, the next five Bemidji State batters reached on hits to storm ahead 4-2.
The Eagles grabbed one back in the second. Junior
Sara Selimovski (Watertown, Conn.) led off with a double to centerfield and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Selimovski came home to score on a passed ball, trimming the deficit to 4-3. Post looked to tie the game as the Eagles loaded the bases with one out, but two strikeouts ended the threat.
Bemidji State opened the game up in the third on a two-run homer by Alayna Krejci. The Beavers extended their lead to 7-3 later in the inning, scoring on an error by the Eagles.
Post would not go down easily as freshman
Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) hit a one-out triple in the fifth and came home on a sacrifice fly by senior
Jessica Grzywna (Philadelphia, Pa.). In the seventh, Dawson and Rivera each singled with two outs. Both came into score on an error by the Beavers as the Eagles trailed just 7-6. The Eagles were unable to tie the game as Selimovski struck out to end the game.
Freshman
Brianna Koref (Springfield, N.J.) allowed one hit and struck out two in 3.2 innings of relief.
Ferris State 1, Post 0
The Eagles fell short to Ferris State in an afternoon pitcher's duel in game two. The Bulldogs scored the only run of the game in the third inning. Sarah Johnson led off the frame with a single right field and came home two batters later on a base hit by Sawyer Wightman.
Grzywna began the bottom of the inning with a single to left and advanced to second on an error by the Bulldogs' shortstop. Sophomore
Kailyn Biello (Watertown, Conn.) moved her to third with a sac bunt, but she was stranded there.
Sophomore
Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth as she sat Sarah Meredith down on strikes to end the threat. A leadoff double by junior
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) got the Eagles going in the fourth. Dawson singled to put runners at the corners with one out, but once again Post could not score a run.
Two errors by Ferris State in the seventh kept the Eagles alive with runners at first and third with two outs before a strikeout ended the game.
Denis struck out three and allowed just four hits for Post.
While Connecticut is hammered with snow tomorrow, the Eagles will play another doubleheader in sunny Florida against Pace beginning at 9 a.m.
