Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) hit his first home run of the season, but the Post University baseball team dropped a 10-3 game to LeMoyne Friday afternoon in its first game of the season.
After giving up a run in the second inning and three more in the third, the Eagles rallied with two runs in the top of the fourth. Second baseman Brian O'Mara of LeMoyne threw an errant ball on a grounder allowing sophomore Mike Munson (Plainville, Conn.) to score to make it a 4-1 game. Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) to cut the deficit to 4-2.
LeMoyne responded quickly with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth as O'Mara and Gabe Levanti each had RBI doubles, making it a 7-2 game.
With the Eagles down 10-2 in the top of the ninth, Walsh would hit a solo homer to left field for Post's final run of the game.
Senior
Joey Picone (Washingtonville, N.Y.) was 2-for-5 on the day for the Eagles. Deangelis was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Junior
Nick Arnold (West Islip, N.Y.) received the loss for Post. He pitched four innings, giving up seven runs – three earned – on eight hits and three walks. He also struck out two. Senior
Alex Johnson (Bethel, Conn.) pitched four innings of relief, striking out five.
Alex Kubera received the win in relief for LeMoyne, striking out seven in five innings.
The two teams will meet again Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holly Springs, N.C.
