Desrosiers Scores Career-High 31 Points as Post Clinches CACC Tournament Bid

Eagles defeat Dominican 73-65

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Post University men's basketball team clinched a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament bid with a 73-65 victory over Dominican on Wednesday night. Junior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) scored a career-high 31 points in the victory.

Desrosiers shot 10-of-16 from the field and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Juniors Naasir Williams (Harlem, N.Y.) and Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) were also in double figures at 13 and 11 points respectively. Junior Joseph Lockwood (London, England) pulled down seven rebounds to go with six points and a block.

The teams remained close throughout most of the first half. Dominican led by three points early, but the Eagles answered back and took a 16-10 lead with 9:03 left. The Chargers pulled within two points until Post hit nine of its last 10 shots to open a 38-23 margin at halftime. Desrosiers had 11 points as part of the Eagles' 22-9 run to close the half.

Post led by 10 points with 8:49 remaining after a free throw by Williams. The Eagles went cold as Dominican used an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 60-58 with just under five minutes left. The Chargers were never able to get closer as Post once again shot well to end the game, hitting four of its last five shots and going 4-for-4 from the line down the stretch.

With another postseason appearance this season, Post has made the last 12 CACC Tournaments, the longest active streak in the conference. Desrosiers' previous career high of 29 also came against Dominican in last year's meeting in Orangeburg.

The Eagles shot 45.8 percent from the field on the night and were 15-of-19 from the foul line. Dominican grabbed one more rebound than Post with the totals at 35-34. Post forced 12 turnovers as the Eagles only committed eight givaways, their second-lowest total of the year.

Post will visit Concordia on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. to close out the regular season.
