WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup with Saint Michael's 81-68 on Sunday afternoon at the Drubner Center. Senior Tyler Desroisers (Agawam, Mass.) led three Eagles in double figures with 16 points in the loss.
Junior
Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Freshman
Darrick Boyd (Springfield, Mass.) added 12 points and eight boards.
The Eagles stormed out of the gate as they hit 7-of-9 to start, building a 17-9 lead at the 13:45 mark of the first. Boyd hit two from distance and had eight points during the early run. Post maintained an eight points play at the midway part of the first, but a 25-9 but the Purple Knights to close the half gave the visitors a 38-30 lead at the break.
The second half began much like the first as Post was able to chip away at the deficit. Back-to-back threes by Desrosiers and freshman
Jaylen Washington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) pull the Eagles within one at 49-48. Desrosiers gave the Eagles a lead on their next possession with 13:09 to go in the game capping a 20-11 run to start the second.
Sophomore
Savion Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) hit from distance with 10:28 left to tie the game 57-57, but the Eagles would never regain the lead. Levi Holmes III had 18 of his game-high 27 points in the second half as Saint Michael's ended the game on 24-11 run leading by as many as 14 before it was over.
Post won the rebounding battle 34-30, but 15 turnovers by the Eagles led to 13 points for the Purple Knights.
The Eagles have a day off before they return to conference action at home against Nyack on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
