SHELTON, Conn. – The Post University men's ice hockey team was defeated by Bryn Athyn 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at the SportCenter of Connecticut in Shelton. Freshman
Evan Lugo (Sandy Hook, Conn.) scored his second goal in as many games.
With just under 10 minutes left to play, the Eagles won a faceoff in their defensive zone and quickly made their way up the ice on an odd-man rush. Sophomore
Noah Wild (Wading River, N.Y.) took a shot from the left circle that was saved. Bryn Athyn goaltender McKenzie Chalmers couldn't control the rebound and Lugo put it past for the score.
"I thought we came out pretty flat as compared to how well we competed on Saturday night," said head coach
Pete Whitney.
Post had 27 shots on goal on the afternoon, led by sophomore
Lucas Smith (Calgary, Alberta) with six. Wild won a team-high 13 faceoffs.
Sophomore goaltender
Devin Day (Fontana, Calif.) made 35 stops. Freshman Brendan Brown (Hanahan, S.C.) played the final 13:45 in net and made 11 saves.
The Eagles continue their early-season homestand on Thursday, Nov. 9 against Westfield State. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
