Five Eagles In Double Figures as Post Falls to Pace

Boyd leads Eagles with 22 points

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Post University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference road matchup at Pace on Sunday afternoon 87-74 at the Goldstein Fitness Center in Pleasantville, N.Y. Five Eagles finished in double figures led by freshman Darrick Boyd (Springfield, Mass.) with 22 points.

After leading by two points early, Post fell behind by as many as 18 points in the first half. Freshman Daniel Cabassa (Bronx, N.Y.) had five points of his season-high 11 points as part of 10-0 run to trim the deficit to 36-28 late in the first. The Eagles would pull within seven points, but went into the break down 44-35.

Senior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) hit a three with 16:09 to go to cut the lead to 51-45, but the Eagles were unable to pull any closer.

Boyd was 6-of-9 from distance and is shooting a scorching 53.1 percent from three this year. Senior Joseph Lockwood (London, England) posted his second double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Savion Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) added 12 points.

The Eagles held the rebounding advantage at 34-29 and their nine offensive boards led to a 16-5 lead in second-chance points. Turnover hurt Post as its 16 giveaways led to 26 points.

Post makes its home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) debut on Wednesday night against Dominican at 7 p.m.
