SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Post University men's ice hockey team was defeated by Western New England 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon in Springfield, Mass. Sophomore
Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn.) scored twice in the loss.
The Eagles found themselves down 3-0 in the second period. A penalty with 4:12 to go in the period gave Post a power-play. Hackett converted for a goal off an assist from freshman
Anthony Giacomin (Drexel Hill, Pa.). He added another in the final minute of the second as freshman
Kieran Hurley (Long Beach, N.Y.) found Hackett to make the score 3-2 after two.
"I thought we showed character coming back from a 3-0 deficit, but a couple undisciplined plays gave our opponent opportunities they should not have had and adversely affected our momentum," said head coach
Pete Whitney.
Western New England added another goal in the third. Post was outshot 44-23 on the day, but did hold a 13-10 advantage in the second period.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at home against Stonehill. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
