Men’s Basketball Falls to Adelphi 109-82 in Season Opener

Desrosiers scores 17 in loss

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball dropped its season-opener to Adelphi 109-82 at the UB Conference Crossover Classic in Bridgeport on Saturday night. Senior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) scored 17 points to lead the Eagles and is now just three away for 1,000 points for his career.
 
Post jumped out to a 12-4 lead at the 17:07 mark of the first on back-to-back three-pointers by Desrosiers. The Panthers quickly answered with a 16-4 run to pull in front by four. A layup by sophomore Savion Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) put the Eagles back in front by 21-20 midway through a high-scoring first half. Boissard finished with a career-high 14 points on the night.
 
Down three with 6:45 to go in the first, senior Jason Nunez (Harlem, N.Y.) converted on a three-point play to knot the score at 31-31. He also dropped a career-best 11 points off the bench to go with four rebounds. Adelphi outscored Post 21-11 the rest of the way to take a double-digit lead into the break.
 
Junior Justin Iton (Englewood, N.J.) laid one in after a Panthers' turnover early in the second half to cut the deficit to 56-48, but the Eagles were unable to pull any closer the rest of the night.
 
Freshman Darrick Boyd (Springfield, Mass.) scored 14 points and grabbed five boards in his debut. Iton scored eight points to go with a team-high seven rebounds. Post scored 50 of its 82 points from inside the paint.
 
The Eagles return to action tomorrow afternoon in Bridgeport against Pace. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
