Eagles’ Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Victory over Felician

Hunziker leads Post with 13 kills

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Post University women's volleyball team won its sixth-consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Friday night 3-0 over Felician. The Eagles won by scores of 25-14, 25-17, and 25-17 to improve to 9-9 overall and 7-1 in CACC play.

Post never trailed in the opening set as it took an early 11-5 lead. A kill by sophomore Ann Marie Nelson (Draper, Utah) after an ace by junior Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) put the Eagles in front 16-7 and forced a Felician timeout. Out of the break, Post continued to pile it on and a block by Root and freshman Ashley Levatino (Holtsville, N.Y.) ended the set.

The Eagles fell behind 3-0 to start the second, but used an 11-4 run to take an 11-7 lead. Felician answered with four straight points to tie the set before Post scored four straight on its own and never trailed again. Junior Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif.) had seven of her game-high 13 kills in the set.

Post trailed early in the final set before an 8-2 run gave the Eagles an 18-11 lead. Junior Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) had three consecutive kills to make the score 24-16 late and a service error by the Golden Falcons ended the match.

Seger finished with eight kills and eight digs. Root recorded 29 assists to go with a team-best 13 digs and two aces. Junior Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) led the Eagles with three aces to go with nine digs. Levatino added nine kills.

Post is back in action tomorrow night at Drubner against Goldey-Beacom. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
