Eagles Lose Non-Conference Game To Queens, 4-1

Waterbury, Conn.– Senior Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) scored her second goal of the year, but it wasn't enough as the Post University women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 game to Queens in an out-of-conference game Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Rodriguez notched her second goal of the season after a rebound off a shot from freshman Elice Oman (Pitea, Sweden) that bounced off the hands of Queens' goalkeeper, Nicole Cranny in the 60th minute.

The Knights got on the board in the 21st minute as Guro Eriksen scored on a pass from Haley Gibbons to make it a 1-0 game. Queens would add its second goal in its first possession of the second half as Agnes Stanton put one in off a pass from Erin Vernillo. Stanton scored again in the 64th minute from 40 yards out. Queens added one more goal from Adriana Mendrinos in the 84th minute.

Senior Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) led all Eagles in shots with two.

Junior Cailah Baranowski (Naugatuck, Conn.), freshman Imelda Lazaro (Norwalk, Conn.) and classmate Hannah Richards (Huddersfield, England) combined for 12 saves on the day. Baranowski and Lazaro each had five.

Up next for the Eagles (3-8) is a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference home game against Holy Family on October 8 at noon.
