WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team defeated Felician 3-0 on Tuesday night at the Drubner Center. With the victory, the Eagles guaranteed themselves a home match in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament.
The first set was back and forth to begin until a 9-1 run by the Eagles made the score 21-12. A kill by junior
Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) gave Post a 25-13 victory in the set, she had four kills in the frame. Junior
Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif.) had six of her team-best 14 kills in the first.
Post went ahead 9-2 to begin the second set, but Felician chipped away and eventually led 14-13. Two kills and a block each by sophomore
Ann Marie Nelson (Draper, Utah) and Hunziker sparked an 11-3 run by the Eagles to close the set with a 25-17 win.
The final set began just like the second as a 7-2 lead by the Eagles quickly became a 9-8 Felician advantage. Freshman
Ashley Levatino (Holtsville, N.Y.) launched back-to-back kills as Post scored the next four points and never trailed again. Senior
Kerrin Kallmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) had a kill and two aces for the Eagles down the stretch of their 25-18 victory.
Levatino and Seger each had 10 kills while the latter added seven digs and an ace. Senior
Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) recorded 17 digs. Junior
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) put up 46 assists to go with five digs. Kallmann led all players with four aces.
Post returns to the court on Saturday in its final road game of the season at Chestnut Hill. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
