Eagles’ Volleyball Grabs 3-0 Road Victory Over Bloomfield

Hunziker leads Post with 12 kills

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Post University women's volleyball team won its third-straight match on Saturday 3-0 over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North rival Bloomfield. The Eagles are now 14-11 overall and 12-3 in conference play with five matches remaining.
 
The Eagles found themselves behind 16-12 in the first set. Sophomore Shannon Veale (Toms River, N.J.) and junior Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif.) combined for the next five points as part of a 7-0 run the put Post in front for good. The Bears pulled within one before another kill by Hunziker gave the Eagles the first set 25-23.
 
Junior Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) had three kills as part of a 6-2 run that turned a 5-4 defeicit into a 10-7 lead for the Eagles as they took the second set 25-20. A point by freshman Ashley Levatino (Holtsville, N.Y.) gave Post its largest lead of the frame at 20-14. Bloomfield climbed within three points but back-to-back errors put the Eagles in front 2-0 in the match.
 
Post led 12-9 early in the final set but a 7-2 spurt by Bloomfield gave it 19-17 advantage. Seger had two of her match-high four service aces as the Eagles answered with 6-1 run of their own to take control of the set. The teams traded points down the stretch as Post grabbed a 25-22 victory.
 
Hunziker had 12 kills and 16 digs to go with two blocks. Veale and Levatino each added six kills. Senior Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) recorded 19 digs and one ace. Junior Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) put up 26 assists.
 
The Eagles return home on Tuesday night for a match up with Felician. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
