Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Late Goal Leads Post Women’s Hockey to 1-1 Tie at Lebanon Valley

Tie snaps Eagles 25-game losing streak

HERSHEY, Pa. – A goal by sophomore Sierra Alarid (Cheyenne, Wyo.) with just 37 seconds remaining in the third period led the Post University women's hockey team to a 1-1 tie at Lebanon Valley on Friday night at Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, Pa. The tie is the first in the two-year history of the Eagles women's ice hockey team.

After two scoreless periods in which the Eagles outshot the Lady Dutchmen 22-12, Lebanon Valley broke through with a power play goal 4:18 into the final period. The goal did not deter Post as the Eagles continued to control offensive play and held a 16-6 advantage in shots during the third.

An Eagles' penalty ended with 44 seconds remaining to put Post back at full strength. Freshman Ann Margaret Disciscio (Litchfield, N.H.) won her fifth faceoff of the night and found Alarid cutting across the crease for the tying score.

Sophomore Kendall Fitzgerald (Kamloops, British Columbia) nearly sent the Eagles home winners in overtime as she had a breakaway after a turnover in the neutral zone by Lebanon Valley, but a save by goaltender Jill Moffatt preserved the tie.

The Eagles outshot their opponent for the first time in program history and held a 43-21 advantage in the category. Sophomore Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) and Alarid each had eight of Post's school-record 43 shots on the night.

Freshman goaltender Danaée St-Germain (Metcalfe, Ontario) made 20 saves for Post.

The Eagles and Dutchmen are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
