SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Post University women's ice hockey team fell to St. Michael's 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles are now 0-2 on the young season.
The Purple Knights scored a goal in each of the first two periods to take a 2-0 lead.
Freshman
Paige Dundas (La Broqueire, Manitoba) cut the deficit in half with her first-career goal with 4:35 to go in the third period. Sophomore
Sierra Alarid (Cheyenne, Wyo.) found Dundas in the left circle, Dundas shot a wrister to the top-right corner for the score.
Post was unable to get any closer as St. Michael's added two late goals for the 4-1 victory.
Freshman
Ann Margaret DiSciscio (Litchfield, N.H.) led the Eagles with five shots. Classmates
Gwendolyn Lansky (Grass Lake, Mich.) and
Jordan Hoyda (Edmonton, Alberta) each added four shots as Post finished with 28 as a team.
The Eagles won 33 face-offs led by sophomore
Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) with 12 wins. Freshman goaltender Danaée St-Germain (Metcalfe, Ontario) made 32 saves in her first-career start.
Post returns to action on Friday with a road game at Lebanon Valley in Hershey, Pa. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
