LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Freshman
Alvaro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) of the Post University men's soccer team scored his fourth goal of the year to lead the Eagles to a 1-0 victory over Georgian Court on Saturday. The victory clinches a spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament for the 15
th-consecutive season.
Sanchez put the Eagles ahead in the 18
th minute as he connected on a pass from sophomore
Eden Gendler (Haifa, Israel) to the upper-right corner of the net. Post outshot the Lions 8-7 in the first half.
Post nearly extended its lead in the 63
rd minute as back-to-back shots by sophomore
Gabriel Aguilar (Stamford, Conn.) and Sanchez were saved by Lions' goalkeeper Yianni Kavarakas. Senior
Giovanni Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was able to keep the clean sheet, making four saves on the day.
The Eagles six in sixth-place in the CACC heading into their final game of the season, Wednesday at home against Bloomfield. Post can finish anywhere from fifth to seventh in the standings. Kickoff against the Bears is set for 3 p.m.
