Eagles Defeat Felician, 3-1; Clinch Spot In CACC Tournament

Waterbury, Conn. – Two second half goals propelled the Post University women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over the Felician Golden Falcons in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game, and most importantly clinched a CACC tournament spot for the Eagles.

With the game tied, 1-1 in the 55th minute, the Eagles sent a flurry of shots, beginning with a shot from junior Ariana Hoxha (Watertown, Conn.) that hit the cross bar. Freshman Sabrina Adamo (Hicksville, N.Y.) took the rebound and took a shot at Felician goalkeeper Jamie Kazenmeyer, but was denied before sophomore Fitore Kllobocishta (Watertown, Conn.) put it home for her third goal of the season and make it a 2-1 game in favor of the Eagles.

For good measure, the Eagles (5-10, 5-5 CACC) tacked on one more goal in the 77th minute as sophomore Bryanna D'Arcangelo (Bridgeport, Conn.) streaked down the sideline, beat a defender, and sent a cross through the box that was touched by freshman Fenna Maarse (Hilversum, Netherlands) and put home by senior Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) to make it a 3-1 game.

Down 1-0, the Eagles got on the board in the 43rd minute as senior Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) punched in a shot off a free kick from Maarse.

The Eagles were dominant on offense all game, outshooting Felician (4-9-1, 3-7 CACC), 19-5, led by Maarse, Kllobocishta and senior Hope Wilson, who each had three.

Freshman Imelda Lazaro (Norwalk, Conn.) had two saves for the Eagles in net.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game against Georgian Court at noon on October 21.
