Post Men’s Soccer Soars Past Felician 3-0

Sergio scores twice in victory

WATERBURY, Conn. – Behind two second-half goals by freshman Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) the Post University men's soccer team defeated Felician 3-0 in a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at LaMoy Field on Tuesday afternoon. The win moves the Eagles ahead of Felician in to sixth-place in the CACC at 5-5 with just two games remaining.

A rocket off the foot of senior Nicholas Strecker (Uncasville, Conn.) nearly put the Eagles ahead in the ninth minute but hit the right goal post. Felician had a late chance in the first half as a header by Steward Salazar sailed just over the crossbar but the score remained 0-0 at the break.

Sergio broke the scoreless tie as he curled in a free kick from 35-yards out in the 56th minute. Post kept pressuring offensively as the Eagles outshot the Golden Falcons 11-4 in the second half. Sophomore Gabriel Aguilar (Stamford, Conn.) fed a through ball to freshman Alvaro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) for the Eagles second goal.

Freshman Adrian Lekaj (Sherman, Conn.) found Sergio for the final goal in the 87th minute to put an exclamation point on Post's 3-0 victory.

The Eagles held a 17-6 advantage in shots and 8-1 on goal. Senior Giovanni Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was tested just once as he earned the clean sheet.

Post plays its final home game on Saturday at Georgian Court. Kickoff in Lakewood, N.J. is set for 2:30 p.m.
