Newark, Del. – Senior
Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) scored her team leading sixth goal of the season, but the Post University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Wilmington on Saturday afternoon.
The loss puts the Eagles a 4-10 overall and 4-5 in the CACC and in seventh place with 12 points. The top eight teams make the CACC tournament.
After the Eagles fell behind 1-0 in the fifth minute on a goal from Rebecca Dolhansky, Mertz took a cross from freshman
Sabrina Adamo (Hicksville, N.Y.) and put it past goalkeeper Kierstyn Williams to tie the game up in the 23
rd minute.
The tie lasted six minutes as Loran Wyrough added her CACC leading 14
th goal for the Wildcats (9-5-1, 8-2 CACC) in the 29
th minute. The Wildcats would tack on one more goal by Presile Quaranta in the 75
th minute.
Freshman
Imelda Lazaro (Norwalk, Conn.) had a career day in net, stopping ten shots on the day.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACC home game against Felician on October 18 at 3 p.m.
