NEWARK, Del. – The Post University men's soccer team was defeated by Wilmington 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road match on Saturday afternoon in Newark, Del. The Eagles 5-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play with three games remaining.
Neither team could gain an advantage out of the gate. Post had an early shot on goal by freshman
Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) in the 17
th minute. Freshman
Alvaro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) nearly broke the scoreless tie with a shot in the 24
th minute.
A corner kick by the Wildcats led to a goal by Jake Meyer in the 35
th minute as Wilmington led 1-0 at halftime.
The Eagles' best opportunity in the second half came on a shot by junior
Andre Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in the 71
st minute. The Wildcats added goals in the 57
th and 82
nd minutes for the final margin.
Shots were 10-7 in favor of the Wildcats. Sergio led the Eagles with three shots. Senior goalkeeper
Giovanni Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made two saves.
Post returns home on Tuesday against Felician. Game time at LaMoy Field is set for 3 p.m.
