MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's tennis team was defeated by defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Champion Goldey-Beacom 9-0 in a rematch of last year's final at Edgewood Bath & Tennis on Friday afternoon.
The No. 2 doubles team of juniors
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) and
Juliana Seabra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) battled to an 8-4 defeat against Manuela Cornejo and Alma Garcia Valle. Freshman
Annika Janson (Seeon, Germany) and junior
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) fell at No. 1 doubles 8-2.
Janson fell to Catarin Zheng 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Anna Hortelano Pey defeated Seabra at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3. Namazi earned three games against Valle, but dropped her No. 4 singles match, 6-3, 6-0.
With the loss, the Eagles will be the sixth seed in the next week's CACC Tournament and will travel for their first-round match on Tuesday at either Wilmington or Jefferson.
Post closes out the regular season on Saturday morning at home against Roberts Wesleyan at 11 a.m.
