Eagles Grab 75-51 Victory Over CACC Rival Georgian Court

Post improves to 6-2 in conference play, first in North Divison

WATERBURY, Conn. – A 24-8 run to close out the opening half propelled the Post University men's basketball team to a 75-51 victory over Georgian Court on a snowy day of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at the Drubner Center Saturday afternoon.

Junior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) was 6-of-12 from the floor and made four from distance scoring a game-high 18 points. He also added a career-best seven assists and pulled down five boards. Sophomore Adnan Halilovich (Mali Zvornik, Serbia) chipped in 13 points and six rebounds.

The Eagles trailed just once all day after a layup by Juwann Carter made the score 11-10 in favor of the Lions. Desrosiers nailed a three just seconds later to put Post back in front. After another basket by Georgian Court tied the game 13-13 with 12:45 to go in the half, Post went on its run to head into the half ahead 37-21.

Post opened the second with an 8-2 spurt to jump in front 45-23 and force a timeout by the Lions. Out of the break the visitors cut the gap to 15 but were never able to inch closer. A layup by junior Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) off a dish from classmate Isaiah Kemp (Astoria, N.Y.) gave the Eagles their largest lead at 75-47 with 2:15 left to play.

For the second straight game, and only two times of the year, the Eagles made double-digit threes as Post shot 10-of-25 from distance. Post shot 46.9 percent from the floor, bettering the Lions' 35.8 clip. The Eagles held a steep 44-25 advantage on the boards and five players grabbed more than five rebounds.

The Post reserves outscored the Georgian Court bench 30-4.

Post returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 on the road at Philadelphia. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.
