PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University men's basketball team saw its five-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win streak end on Wednesday night with a 64-54 loss at Philadelphia. The Eagles are now 7-9 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Post found itself down 36-21 after an early second half layup by the Rams. Two baskets by sophomore
Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) and a three by senior
Malcolm Amos (Brookport, Ill.) trimmed the deficit to single digits with 17:36 remaining. Amos scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the second half.
Philadelphia hit two free throws to build its lead back up to 10, but the Eagles continued to chip away and a jumper by junior
Naasir Williams (Harlem, N.Y.) with 12:35 left made the score 41-39.
A steal and layup by Amos with 9:11 remaining capped the Eagles 25-10 run to open the second half and tied the score 46-46. Jordan Decicco answered for the Rams with a three-pointer on the other end and Philadelphia would lead the rest of the way.
Junior
Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) nearly recorded a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Williams had nine points to go with a season-high seven rebounds. Both teams shot 20-of-52 from the floor, but the Rams held an 18-2 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Eagles return home on Saturday against USciences. Tip-off at Drubner is set for 3 p.m.
