FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Post University men's ice hockey team fell to the Fredonia Blue Devils 15-1 on the road Saturday night at Steele Hall Ice Arena.
Fredonia's offensive night started only 58 seconds into the first period with a goal by forward Jimmy Morgan. Post sophomore goaltender
Joseph Grout (Plainfield, N.H.) battled an onslaught of 15 shots early in the first period. Looking to spark the emotions of the Post bench, sophomore goaltender
Devin Day (Fontana, Calif.) was called in to relieve Grout at the 13:37 mark of the first. The two combined for 56 saves on the night.
"Despite being decimated by illness and injury we competed to the final buzzer. I could not be prouder of our effort tonight," said head coach
Pete Whitney.
Post freshman forward
Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn.) had three shots in the second period. Hackett made a spectacular play following up an initial shot of his with a secondary shot on goal, batting a puck out of midair with 21.9 seconds left in the second period.
At the 7:20 mark of the third period, Post freshman forward
Steven McHale (Sarasota, Fla.) capitalized on an odd-man rush and put the Eagles on the board. Hackett and sophomore
Max Lagasse (Wolcott, Conn.) had assists on the score. Post junior forward
Christopher Harris (Barnstable, Mass.) led the team with a total of five shots on goal.
Post returns to action next Saturday, Jan. 28 at 4:15 pm on the road against Marist.
