Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- The Post University men's ice hockey team snapped its losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Marist on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Matt Moreschi (Malden, Mass.) scored twice in the victory.
The Eagles got on the board early in the first period as junior Christopher Harris (Barnstable, Mass.) chipped a pass up to freshman Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn.) on a two-on-one with Morsechi. Moreschi beat the Red Foxes' goaltender to put Post in front 1-0.
With 2:29 remaining in the first, Hackett extended the lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal, his team-leading 10th score of the season.
Marist cut the deficit to one midway through the second on a power-play goal. Moreschi put the game away with a an empty net goal with under a minute remaining.
"Overall we played a solid game. After a shaky second period, we came together well in the third, controlling play and limiting our opponent's chances," said head coach Pete Whitney.
Shots were fairly even for both teams with Marist holding a slim 41-38 advantage. Sophomore Devin Day (Fontana, Calif.) made 40 saves and recorded an assist on the night.
Post returns home on Wednesday, Feb. 1 for its final home game of the season against Franklin Pierce. Puck drops in Shelton at 7:30 p.m.
