Brumfield Scores First Collegiate Goal as Eagles Fall at Johnson & Wales 6-1

Post scores first power play goal of the season

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Post University women's ice hockey team was defeated by Johnson & Wales 6-1 on Saturday night in Pawtucket, R.I. In the loss, the Eagles scored their first power play goal of the season.
 
Late in the second period, Post found itself down 4-0. Freshman Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) beat the Wildcats' goaltender from the right faceoff circle with 23 seconds left in the period for her first-career goal.
 
Freshman Kendall Fitzgerald (Kamloops, British Columbia) recorded her second assist of the season on the goal. She led the team with three shots and six faceoff victories.
 
Goaltender Samantha Griswold (Park City, Utah) stopped 29 shots and allowed just two goals over the first 31.42 of play. Mikaella Doran (Eden Mills, Vt.) came off the bench and finished the game with 37 saves.
 
The Eagles visit Franklin Pierce on Tuesday night. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
