Post Drops Match at #5 Southern New Hampshire 4-0

Eagles open CACC play on Saturday

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Post University men's soccer team was defeated by No. 5 Southern New Hampshire 4-0 on Wednesday night in Manchester, N.H. The Eagles are now 1-2 heading into their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Saturday.

The teams played even for the first 15 minutes of the match, until a failed clear attempt by Post led to a goal by Louka Masset to give the Penman a 1-0 lead. The Eagles had a great chance to tie the score late in the opening half, but a header by sophomore Matteo Moro (Rome, Italy) went just wide.

Southern New Hampshire added another goal off a set piece early in the second half. Senior Armando Filho (Cataguases, Brazil) nearly answered as his shot from just inside the box hit the crossbar.

Junior Nicholas Strecker (Uncasville, Conn.) had a shot on goal late in the game but it was saved by Penmen keeper Nick Zucco.

The score was not reflective of how the game played out. We had the momentum late in the first half and came out strong to start the second. Southern New Hampshire is a very good side and they made us pay on the mistakes we made," said head coach Ted Haley.

The game was played at nearby Derryfield School due to a pre-game electrical issue on campus that delayed the start by 50 minutes.

Post returns to action on Saturday afternoon against Chestnut Hill to begin conference play. Kickoff in Philadelphia is set for 3 p.m.
