WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University sprint football team heads to Annapolis, Md. on Friday night to face Navy. The Eagles are 0-1 on the young season coming off a 24-6 loss at Franklin Pierce in their opener on Sept. 17. First-year head coach Joe Taylor will return to Annapolis after spending the previous three years as an assistant coach with the Midshipmen.

Freshman quarterback
Buddy Enriquez (Sacramento, Calif.) threw for 136 yards in his Eagles' debut but Post fell to the Ravens 24-6 in the annual Talon Cup game in Rindge, N.H. Post used an eight-play 78-yard drive in the closing minutes of the first half to score its only points of the game. Senior
Jarrick Sharp (Hampton, Va.) caught 27-yard touchdown with 16 seconds remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 7-6. The ensuing extra point was blocked by Franklin Pierce. Seniors
Greg Volpe (North Haven, Conn.) and
Chris Leggio (Brewster, N.Y.) each made 10 tackles to lead the Eagles. Post allowed just 11 passing yards.
Scouting the Midshipmen
Navy is 2-0 on the year heading into its home-opener this week. The Midshipmen are coming off a 54-13 win at Franklin Pierce on Sept. 24. Navy leads the conference in scoring offence at 47.0 points per game and 445.5 yards per game. Defensively, the Midshipmen are third in the league allowing just 226 yards per contest. Quarterback Nick Deterding was named CSFL Offensive Player of the Week in Week 1 after scoring six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in a win over Cornell. Luke Coughlin and Sheppard Wilson lead the squad with six tackles each.

Post has never defeated Navy in five previous meetings. Last season the Eagles fell 21-0 at LaMoy Field but forced three Navy fumbles.

Post is at the top of the CSFL in many categories as it leads the league in total defense (146 ypg), passing defense (11 ypg), and opponent first downs (12). The Eagles struggled with four turnovers and 135 penalty yards against Franklin Pierce. Individually, Enriquez is third with 136 passing yards per game. Approaching the Record Books
Jarrick Sharp enters the week with 649 career all-purpose yards and is just 351 yards away from become the fourth Eagle to reach the 1000-yard milestone. He is also nearing the top of the career list in punting yards as he currently stands at 1478 and is just 463 yards away from the top spot.
Bernard Peterson has five career interceptions needs just one to grab sole possession of the top spot.
Chris Leggio is the Eagles career leader in tackles with 179 and looks to add to that total this year.
