ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Post University volleyball team dominated on the second day of the Long Island Invitational, sweeping LeMoyne and Molloy. The Eagles move to 2-2 on the year heading into their home opener on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, Post handed LeMoyne its first loss of the season in straight sets (25-19, 28-26, 25-19). Senior
Skylar German paced the Eagles with 16 kills and teammate
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn) had 11 of her own.
The second set was the toughest of the day as the Dolphins held a 21-14 lead before junior
Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) set to serve and rallied the Eagles to six straight points, cutting the LeMoyne lead to one. After trading blows the set ended with a kill by senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.)
Against Molloy freshman
Shannon Veale (Toms River, N.J.) led the Eagles with 14 kills as German added 11 kills. Ryder had 17 digs and sophomore
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) put up 38 assists for Post. The Eagles took the first set in dramatic fashion 27-25, the match ended with back to back aces by the Root. Post jumped out to early leads in the second and third sets to put away the Lions (25-21, 25-21).
The Eagles' next action will be on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Drubner Center against St. Rose. Match will begin at 7 p.m.
