NORTH EASTON, Mass. – The Post University volleyball team dominated their competition on Tuesday night as it downed Stonehill in three consecutive sets on the road; 25-14, 25-22, 25-22. The Eagles have now won six straight moving their record to 6-2 on the season.
Seniors Morgan and
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) piloted the Eagles to victory tonight.
Morgan Griffin recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Hailey led the team with 12 digs. Post was once again led in assists by sophomore setter
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) with 28.
In the first, a six point run on the serve of junior libero
Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) gave Post the separation it needed to take the set 25-14.
The most difficult set for the Eagles was the second. Stonehill battled until two crucial errors put it behind 24-21.
Hailey Griffin notched the final point to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage.
The Skyhawks came out firing with a 10-4 lead before Post began to chip away at the deficit. First it came in the presence of a four point swing to cut the lead to two. Following the run, Stonehill extended its lead back up to six, 14-8. However there was no quit in this Eagles team, Post came back yet again tying the match up 15-15. It was not knotted for long as each side battled until the end and Post came out on top 25-23.
Next game for the Eagles will be on Thursday, Sept. 15 at home against Molloy. On Sept. 3, Post defeated Molloy in straight sets 27-25, 25-21, 25-21.
