WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Chestnut Hill 22-8 on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Senior
Jasana Levy (Meriden, Conn.) and sophomore
Toni Deren each scored three times on the day.
Levy intercepted a pass by Griffins' goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang midway through the first half and scored the Eagles' first goal of the game as Post trailed 12-1. Chestnut Hill answered with two more before Levy tallied another goal. Sophomore
Savannah Schwack (Manorville, N.Y.) and Deren each added free-position goal to make the score 14-4 at the break.
Post scored four of the first five goals to begin the second half. Deren struck first with another score on a free-position shot. Levy added her third of the day with 17:50 left as the Eagles cut the deficit to 15-6. Chestnut Hill scored minutes later before Deren and sophomore
Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) each beat the Griffins' keeper.
The Eagles scored on five of their six free-position shots. Sophomore
Dominique Woods (Hartford, Conn.) picked up three ground balls and had three caused turnovers to lead Post. Deren grabbed four ground balls and two draw controls.
Post returns to action Wednesday afternoon at Holy Family. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
