Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Georgian Court 14-9 In Home Finale

Treat Tallies Six Points on Senior Day

WATERBURY, Conn. – Behind three goals each from senior Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.), junior Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.), and freshman Patrick Egan (Colchester, Conn.) the Post University men's lacrosse team defeated Georgian Court 14-9 on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Eagles are now 5-6 on the year with three games remaining.

Freshman Matthew Mazza (West Seneca, N.Y.) forced a turnover to stop a clear attempt by the Lions early in the game. Post made Georgian Court pay for the mistake as Treat beat the keeper for his first goal of the game.

The Lions tied the score, but the Eagles answered quickly with an extra-man goal by Buchas and led 2-1. Post extended its lead with 6:31 left in the first as Egan grabbed a rebound after a shot by junior Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) and netted a goal. Blackman hit junior Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.) late in the quarter and the Eagles held a 4-1 lead through one.

Georgian Court cut its deficit to just one with three straight tallies to begin the second. Junior Paul Hylan (Clinton, Conn.) and Treat but the Eagles lead back up to 7-4 with 8:13 left until halftime. The Lions once again pulled within one before Buchas netted his second goal late in the half to give Post an 8-6 lead at the break.

The Eagles outscored Georgian Court 6-3 in the second half to put the game away. Sophomore Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) scored twice down the stretch for Post.

Sophomore Kevin Keiser (Danbury, Conn.) was stellar defensively with three caused turnovers and eight ground balls to lead the Eagles. Treat and Mazza grabbed seven ground balls and a caused turnover each.

Senior Rob Rohan (East Islip, N.Y.) closed out his career at LaMoy strong with 22 saves between the pipes.

Post takes a break before its next game on Wednesday, April 20 at Saint Thomas Aquinas. Face-off is set for 3 p.m.
