WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Philadelphia 19-4 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at LaMoy Field on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Rachel Lancaster (Plainville, Conn.) made 13 saves in her first-career start in goal.
Junior
Nicole Evans (Cortland, N.Y.) put the Eagles on the board with 23:34 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 5-1. Sophomore
Sam Rodriguez assisted on the score as she fed Evans in front of the net.
An errant pass Philadelphia gave the ball back to Post midway through the period. Rodriguez made the Rams pay as she scored her team-high 16 goal of the season to make the score 7-2. Junior
Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) hit a wide-open
Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) with a long pass. An undefended Deren easily scored as Post trailed 13-3 at halftime.
The Rams turned the ball over early in the second half and Deren struck again on the other end for the final Eagles' goal.
Jones led the Eagles with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Evans won two draw controls. Post forced 22 turnovers, its second-best defensive output of the year.
The Eagles homestand continues on Tuesday, April 5 against Felician. Opening draw is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
