Kresley Breaks Career HR Record as Eagles Split with USciences on Senior Day

Kresley has hit 20 home runs in her career

WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) smacked her 20th career home run to become the Post University softball team's career leader on Saturday afternoon as the Eagles split with USciences at LaMoy Field. Post won game one 5-2 but fell 4-3 in extra-innings in game two.

Game One – Post 5, USciences 2
The Eagles went up 2-0 with runs in each of the first two innings. Kresley had an RBI single in the first and junior Kathryn Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) crushed a solo shot in the second. The Devils scored a run in the third on a hit by Emily Harris.

Junior Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) legged out an infield singled to start the fifth. She moved to third on a groundout and a flyout. Lennox came home after an illegal pitch was called on USciences' pitcher Cassie Lapotsky.

Post loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth. Dawson and junior Marissa Cammarano (Bedford, Mass.) each had base hits and classmate Kristen Owens (Exton, Pa.) was hit by a pitch. Junior Jessica Grzywna (Philadelphia, Pa.) reached on a fielder's choice, but an errant throw by the catcher hit her leg and allowed a run to score for the Eagles. Senior Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single.

The Devils added a solo home run in the seventh.

Senior Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) pitch a complete game and struck out five to earn the win.

Game Two – USciences 4, Post 3, F/8
Defensive miscues by the Eagles in the third inning helped USciences grab a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Korie McDonald (Middleboro, Mass.) hit a double off the wall in center with one out in the fourth. Kresley followed with a walk. Junior Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit an RBI single through the left side to cut the deficit to 3-1.

McDonald started a two-out rally for the Eagles in the sixth with a single. Kresley tied the game with a blast to left field. Both teams went down in order in the seventh. Brittany Granahan hit a home run in the eighth to put the Devils ahead 4-3.

The Eagles threatened in the bottom of the frame as they loaded the bases but could not extend the game with a run.

Post play its final home game on Monday afternoon against Dominican. The Eagles fell to the Chargers 5-2 in nine innings in this season's earlier matchup. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
