Esposito Shines, But Post Drops Doubleheader To Felician

Strikes Out 12 In Game Two

Lyndhurst, N.J. – Sophomore Enzo Esposito (Hamilton, N.J.) struck out 12 in the second game of a doubleheader, but the Post University baseball team dropped both games, 21-0 and 5-3 at Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup.

In game two, after being down 1-0, sophomore Alex Wright (Butler, N.J.) drove in freshman Andrew Avots (South Brunswick, N.J.) on a groundout to tie the game up in the top of the third.

The Eagles would take the lead in the top of the sixth inning as Maxime Robillard (Blainville, Quebec) hit a single down the right field line to score freshman Mike Munson (Plainville, Conn.) and sophomore Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) to give Post a 3-1 lead.

Felician would get a run back in the seventh on a passed ball.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Eagles looked poised to extend their lead after loading the bases with no one out. However, after Naif came in relief of Taylor, he retired the next three batters to end the threat.

The Golden Falcons would capitalize in the bottom of the eighth as a single from Andrew LaMura drove in Matt Diesel and Ralph Caccavale on an RBI single after they walked earlier in the inning. Felician would score one more run on a sacrifice fly by Brennan Price.

Esposito was stellar on the mound for the Eagles, pitching 6.2 innings, and giving up two runs – one earned – while striking out 12. It was a season-high for Esposito who also has struck out 11 people two other times this season.

In game one, the Eagles fell behind 11-0 after the fourth inning and lost, 21-0. Eight players scored two runs each for Felician, including Diesel who was 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Sophomore Ben Brown (Middlebury, Conn.) pitched two innings in relief, striking out four. The staff as a whole struck out nine.
