Strong Second Half Leads Men’s Lacrosse Over Franklin Pierce 15-11

Treat Scores Four Goals, Two Assists In Victory

RINDGE, N.H. – With the score tied at the half, the Post University men's lacrosse team outscored Franklin Pierce 9-5 in the second half on its way to a 15-11 road victory on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have won three straight games and are 3-1 on the year.

Franklin Pierce opened the game with two early goals. After turnovers by both teams, the Eagles controlled possession and sophomore Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) hit junior Paul Hylan (Clinton, Conn.) for a goal to trim the deficit.

Post won the ensuing faceoff and senior Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) knotted the game with his first of four scores on the afternoon. Each team added two more goals and at the end of the first quarter the score was tied 4-4.

The teams traded goals for the remainder of the half and the game was deadlocked 6-6 at the break.

Junior Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) gave Post its first lead of the day at 7-6 with a goal to start the third quarter. The play was setup by a turnover caused by sophomore Kevin Keiser (Danbury, Conn.). The lead did not last long as nine seconds later the Ravens tied the game. Franklin Pierce grabbed the lead with 10:07 left in the third.

Junior Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) scored on Post's next possession to start a five-goal run that helped the Eagles build a 12-8 lead with 9:41 remaining in the game. Franklin Pierce trimmed the deficit to 12-9, but two quick scores by junior Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.) and Blackman ended the comeback bid. Buchas added his third goal of the game late in the fourth.

Each team had 44 shots on the day, but Post held a 28-24 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Raymond Maeang (Newburgh, N.Y.) won a season-high 14 face-offs. Nichols had three assists and two ground balls. Hylan and freshman Patrick Egan (Colchester, Conn.) each added two goals.

Post looks to continue its win streak on Tuesday as the Eagles visit #17 Dowling. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
