WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team swept Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Philadelphia at LaMoy Field on Thursday afternoon. Freshman
Marissa Wilson (Holbrook, N.Y.) hit a home run in each game, including a grand slam in the opener to propel the Eagles to a 6-0 victory. Post won the second game 4-2.
Game One – Post 6, Philadelphia 0
Junior
Natalie Lennox (Landenburg, Pa.) drew a walk to start the first inning. After two strikeouts, senior

Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) lined an RBI single up the middle to put the Eagles in front 1-0.
Senior
Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) struck out the side in the second and sat the Rams down in order in the third. Classmate
Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to begin the home half of the third. Kresley walked and Ragazzone followed with another base hit to load the bases with two outs. Wilson launched a grand slam to straightaway center as the Eagles built a 5-0 lead.
Sophomore
Korie McDonald (Middleboro, Mass.) crushed a ground-rule double to start the fourth. Sophomore Emily Schafer (Hazlet, N.J.) drove her home with a single to left field.
Esque allowed just one hit and struck out 11 batters to earn the shutout victory, the 15
th of her career to tie Christa Holtom '06 for the most in team history.
Game Two – Post 4, Philadelphia 2
The Rams loaded the bases with just one out in the second inning, but freshman
Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) kept the game scoreless with a strikeout and groundout to end the threat. The Eagles' bats were silent over the first three innings as they did not record a hit.
Ragazzone drew a walk to begin the fourth. Wilson and Schaffer smashed back-to-back home runs in the inning as the Eagles pulled in front 3-0.
Junior
Kathryn Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) continued the frame with a single up the middle and moved over to third after two groundouts. Classmate Kristin Owens added to the Post lead with an infield single to the shortstop.
Philadelphia broke up the shutout with two outs in the seventh inning as Erica D'Angelo drove in two with a double to right.
Denis threw her second complete game of the year and struck out a season-high six to pick up her fourth victory.
Post visits Georgian Court on Saturday. First pitch in Lakewood, N.J. is set for 1:30 p.m.
