CALDWELL, N.J. – The Post University softball team split a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games at #24 Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore
Korie McDonald (Middleboro, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with two RBI as the Eagles took game two 4-2. A three-run ninth by the Cougars sank Post 3-2 in game one.
Game One – Caldwell 3, Post 2
The Eagles jumped Caldwell early in game one. Junior Kristin Owens (Exton, Pa.) and senior
Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) drew walk to put two on with just one out in the first inning. Owens crossed the plate on an error by the Courgars' shortstop as Post grabbed a 1-0 lead.

Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) hit a one-out infield single in the third. Kresley followed with a double to right field as the Eagles put two runners in scoring position. Junior
Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) put the Eagles in front 2-0 with single right.
Senior
Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) allowed just two hits over the first five innings as Post took its lead into the sixth.
Caldwell led off the sixth with a double to center and a bunt single. Caitlin McCready and Brielle Reighn followed with doubles as the Cougars battled back to grab a 3-2 lead.
Junior Kate Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) smashed a ground-rule double to right field to begin the seventh, but was stranded as the next three Eagles went down in order.
Game Two – Post 4, Caldwell 2
Freshman Leslie Dennis (Swansea, Mass.) pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning. McDonald and junior
Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) each had infield singles to start the third. Caldwell's third baseman overthrew first base on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Owens and McDonald scored as Post led 1-0.
The Cougars tied the game in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single up the middle by Marisa Monasseri.
The game wasn't tied long as the Eagles added three runs in the fourth to jump in front 4-1. Freshman
Marissa Wilson (Holbrook, N.Y.) led off with a base hit to right and Dawson smashed a single to centerfield. Both moved up a base on a sac bunt and McDonald drove them home with a ground-rule double to left center. She would score on a throwing error later in the inning.
Caldwell scored its final run on a homer in the bottom of the fourth.
Dennis earned her third victory of the year as she pitched four innings and struck out one. Esque threw three innings of one-hit relief with three strikeouts to pick up the save.
Post returns home tomorrow afternoon against Philadelphia. First pitch at LaMoy Field is set for 3 p.m.
