CALDWELL, N.J. – The Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Caldwell 13-4 in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Monday afternoon. Sophomore
Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) scored twice and picked up a team-high two groundballs.
With the Eagles down 3-0, junior
Nicole Evans (Cortland, N.Y.) received a free-position attempt and converted for her first goal of the season. Deren scored her first of the day with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half to cut the deficit to 6-2.
Senior
Jessica Lavelle (Thurmont, Md.) forced a turnover with 3:21 left until the break and the Eagles were able to clear into their offensive zone. Deren made the most of the Cougars' mistake with her second goal of the day to make the score 8-3 at the half.
Sophomore
Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) added her team-high eighth goal of the season late in the second half.
Post had 19 shots on the day, led by Deren with 10, including eight on goal. Freshman
Natia Jones (Raleigh, N.C.) and Deren each grabbed two draw controls. Goalkeeper
Monica Kochurin (Manassas, Va.) made 10 saves.
The Eagles close out their six-game road trip on Wednesday afternoon against Bridgeport. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
