WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team scored early and often as it rolled to a 17-2 win over American International on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The 15-goal margin of victory is the largest in the three-year history of the Eagles' lacrosse team.
Junior
Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) struck first for Post as senior
Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) found him for a goal with 12:41 left in the opening quarter. After an AIC turnover, the Eagles had two shots go wide before junior
Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) scored to put Post in front 2-0. The Eagles led 5-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Freshman
Matthew Mazza (West Seneca, N.Y.) scored his second goal of the game to start the second. Senior
Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) picked up one of his team-high six groundballs and took it the distance as the Eagles opened a 7-0 lead.
AIC answered on its next possession, but Post led 9-1 at the half. Junior
Paul Hylan (Clinton, Conn.) and Treat each scored in the final 11 seconds before the break.
The second half was much of the same as Post led 17-1 before allowing a late goal.
Hylan, Mazza, and Treat each had three goals while Buchas and Blackman added two each. Treat also had three assists and a caused turnover. Junior
Rob Rohan (East Islip, N.Y.) made eight saves in goal.
Post outshot the Yellow Jackets 44-26 on the day and 27-11 on goal.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday on the road at Franklin Pierce. Face-off is set for 1 p.m.
