Eagles Use Long Ball, Pitching To Sweep Goldey Beacom

Kresley Homers In Each Game

Waterbury, Conn. - The arm of senior Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) and the bat of senior Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) led the Post University softball team to a sweep of the Goldey-Beacom Lightning on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.

With the sweep, the Eagles move to 8-11 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.

In game one, Kresley hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Eagles the 8-0 win via the mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kresley opened up the scoring in the game in the bottom of the third as her ground-rule double scored junior Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.). Classmate Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) then followed with a two-run single to score Kresley and  Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

Post would add two more runs in the fourth as Iacomini drew a bases loaded walk to score a run followed by an RBI sacrifice fly by Kresley. The Eagles tacked one more run on in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by junior Marissa Cammarano (Bedford, Mass.).

Kresley finished the game going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBI. Ragazzone went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Esque was stellar on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout, giving up just six hits and striking out six.
In Post's 5-1 win in game two, Ragazzone hit a two-run homer for the Eagles in the bottom of the first to spark the offense early on and give them a 2-0 lead.

Starting freshman Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) was able to get out of a bases loaded jam giving up just one run in the fourth as the Lightning cut the deficit to 2-1.

Kresley showed off her power once again in the bottom of the fifth, hitting a two-run homer to give the Eagles a comfortable 4-1 lead as Esque was able to close out the game for the Eagles in the final three innings.

Denis earned the win for the Eagles, pitching four innings, giving up one earned run on one walk and four hits while striking out four.
