Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) scored four goals, and freshman
Patrick Egan (Colchester, Conn.) scored three, as Post used an eight-goal third period as its men's lacrosse team defeated Dominican, 15-11 on Friday afternoon.
Post jumped out to a 2-0 lead early on as senior
Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) and Buchas scored at the 9:46 and 5:05 mark, respectively. After Dominican cut the lead to 2-1, Egan scored an unassisted goal with 2:55 remaining in the period. Less than 30 seconds later, Dominican would again cut the deficit to one, as Blake Israel made it a 3-2.
The lead would stay at one goal after the second period as each team scored three goals. Treat added his second goal of the game, and sophomore
Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) and senior
Chris Lommer (Lancaster, N.Y.) also scored for Post. It was Lommer's first goal of the season.
With Post holding a slight 6-5 lead after halftime, the Eagles scored six straight goals in the third period to break open the game. Sophomore Frank Nichols, Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) started the scoring streak with a goal at the 12:35 mark. Shortly after, Buchas would add his first goal of three goals in the period at the 10:18 mark.
Post would then blow the game open, scoring four goals within 3:19 of each other as junior
Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.), Buchas, Egan and sophomore
Kevin Keiser (Danbury, Conn.) scored to make it a 12-5 lead. After Israel scored his second goal of the game for the Chargers, Buchas would tack on his third goal of the period – and fourth of the game – and Egan would tack on his second of the period to make it a 14-5 game going into the final frame.
Dominican's rally fell short in the fourth period as it outscored Post, 5-1 in the period.
Junior
Chris Cruz (Wayne, N.J.) was 9-for-28 on faceoffs. Senior
Rob Rohan (East Islip, N.Y.) finished with 19 saves on the day.
With the win, the Eagles move to 4-3 on the season.
