OAKDALE, N.Y. – The Post University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Dowling on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles shutout the Golden Lions 4-0 in the opener but fell 8-2 in game two.

Marissa Wilson (Holbrook, N.Y.) and junior Kate Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) to reach safely. Senior
Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) singled to left to load the bases. An infield fly and strikeout ended the inning.

Marissa Cammarano (Bedford, Mass.) led the fourth inning off with singles. Both moved into scoring position on a sacrifice by Iacomini. Sophomore
Korie McDonald (Middleboro, Mass.) reached on an error by the pitcher.

Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) drove in the first Eagles run with a single up the middle. Senior
Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) drew a walk to bring in another run as Post led 2-0.

Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) sat Dowling down in order for the first three innings before allowing the leadoff batter to reach in the fourth. The Golden Lions put runners at second and third with one out, but Esque was able to pitch out of the jam.
Lennox drew a walk to start the sixth and advanced to second on a sac bunt. Kresley drove in her second run of the game with a double to right center and came around to score on an error.
Esque allowed just two hits and struck out four to earn her fourth win of the year and third shutout victory.
Dowling 8, Post 2Dawson singled up the middle with two outs in the top of the first to drive home Kresley for the Eagles first run. Dowling answered with a run in the bottom of the inning as Arianna La Puma doubled to lead off the frame and came home on a passed ball.
Iacomini doubled with one out in the fourth. McDonald drove her in with an RBI double to right center to put the Eagles in front 2-1. Two errors by Post led to two runs by the Golden Lions in the bottom of the inning as they grabbed a 3-2 lead.
Dowling added three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to pull away. Post loaded the bases in the fifth and put two on in the sixth but were unable to draw any closer.
Wilson, Iacomini, and McDonald each had two hits for the Eagles in game two.
Post opens its home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CAC) schedule on Tuesday against Dominican. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
