ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Post University men's basketball team closed out the regular season on Wednesday with a 62-43 victory at Dominican. With the win, the Eagles clinched the #2 seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division and a home tournament game against USciences on Saturday.
The momentum from Post's dramatic victory over the weekend continued into Tuesday's night as the Eagles stormed ahead 17-2 to start the game. Sophomore
Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) and senior
David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) combined for 15 points early.
Dominican would never come within single-digits all night as Post held the Chargers to just 18 points in the first half. Junior
Shay Agboola (Atlanta, Ga.) nailed a three with 4:52 left in the opening period as the Eagles took their largest lead at 28-9.
The Chargers scored the first two baskets of the second half to get as close as they would at 33-22, but Desrosiers quieted the crowd as he connected from long-range on Post's next three possessions to extend the advantage out to 19. Desrosiers scored 18 of his game-high 29 points in the second half and was 12-of-13 from the foul line on the night.
Post led by as many as 25 points down the stretch. The 43 points allowed by the Eagles was their lowest since the 2003-04 season.
Seymour finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Tip-off for Saturday's quarterfinal at the Drubner Center is 2 p.m. USciences earned the third seed in the South Division.
