WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team was defeated by USciences 96-90 in overtime on Saturday afternoon in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament at the Drubner Center.
In a game the featured 17 ties and 18 lead changes, sophomore
Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) led five Eagles in double-figures with 25 points. Senior
David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) added 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Post found itself in front 78-71 with 2:10 left after Seymour kicked it out to junior
Shay Agboola (Atlanta, Ga.) for a three in the corner. The Devils answered with a layup on the other end. A miss from long distance by the Eagles led to two free-throws by Sho Da-Silva as USciences cut the deficit 78-75 with 1:26 remaining in regulation.
Seymour extended the Eagles advantage on their next possession with his second three-pointer of the day. After hitting a pair from the line, the Devils forced a turnover and scored to make it 81-79 with 22 seconds left. Post missed the front end of a one-and-one on the other end and Wes Kerr hit a jumper to tie the game.
Kerr fouled junior
Malcolm Amos (Brookport, Ill.) on the ensuing inbounds. Amos, who finished with 12 points, sunk both from the line to put the Eagles in front 82-80 with eight ticks remaining. Kerr made a layup in the closing seconds to send the game into overtime.
Post led early in the extra period, but USciences went on a 9-0 run to build a 94-87 advantage with 20 seconds left. Sophomore
Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) nailed late three for the Eagles.
The Eagles made 10-of-12 out of the gate to jump in front 23-16 early. The Devils came back to tie the game with 7:40 left in the first. Neither team led by more than three from there until midway through the second half.
Freshman
Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) scored 16 points. Agboola was 2-for-3 from deep and added 10 points and three rebounds off the bench.
