WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball dominated first place Caldwell at home 87-66 on Monday night. Post moves to 3-2 in the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and 4-6 overall. Caldwell drops to 3-1 in the CACC and 6-3 overall.
Senior Malcom Amos (Brookfield, Ill.) scored 10 of the Eagles' first 24 points as Post jumped out to an early 24-16 lead. Junior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) netted 10 first half points for the Eagles. Post shot a season-best 51.5 percent from the field in the first half of play giving itself a 44-31 lead at the break.
Post went on a 39-18 point run at the opening of the second half to give itself their largest lead of the game and season at 34 points. Caldwell trailed by no less than nine points in the second half of play allowing the Eagles to cruise to a 21-point victory.
Amos led the team in scoring with 19 points, Desrosiers scored 15 points and grabbed a team-high eight boards. Okros was 6-for-6 from the line for 14 points and seven rebounds. Junior Nassir Williams (Harlem, N.Y) added seven points and six assists.
The Eagles scored 21 points off of 11 Caldwell turnovers while the bench outscored the Cougars 22-20 for the game. Post shot great from the floor from start to finish with a 50 percent clip. The Eagles knocked down a season-best nine three-pointers while shooting 36 percent from deep.
Post will look to continue to roll on Thursday in an non-conference battle against New Haven at 7 p.m.
