WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team was shocked at home against Felician 68-65 on Wednesday night on a game-ending half court heave by Zamir Wright.
In the closing seconds, Felician led by two points before junior
Joseph Lockwood (London, England) knocked down a baseline jumper to tie the game up with 2.9 seconds remaining on the clock. On the ensuing inbounds, Wright received the pass and heaved it up from just past half court for the win.
Juniors
Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.), Nassir Williams (Harlem, N.Y) and
Joseph Lockwood (London, England) all scored in double figures for the Eagles. Desrosiers had 18, Williams added 17 while Lockwood finished the night with 11 points.
Desrosiers also led the team with six rebounds. He scored his 18 points in the ballgame shooting 7-for-16 from the field and 4-for-12 from beyond the three point line. In the first half of play Post played very efficient on the offensive end, limiting turnovers with only three and shooting nearly 47 percent from the field. At the break the Eagles led Felician by the score of 35-21.
In the second half, Post was able to extend its lead to 20 after a layup by junior
Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) with 12:03 to go. The Golden Falcons went on a 33-12 run in the next 10 minutes that gave them a one point lead before the final sequence. Terrel Spauling and Gjaimeir Stanford had the hot hand for Felician during the run, combining to score 22 of the 33 points.
Post outscored Felician 12-4 off of turnovers and 26-14 in the paint.
The Eagles will return to Central Athletic Collegiate Conference action on the road at Nyack on Saturday, Dec. 3. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
