Eagles fall to the Cougars 3-1 on the road

CALDWELL, N.J. –  The Post University women's volleyball team saw its program-record 14-match win streak come to a close on Tuesday at Caldwell as the Cougars defeated the Eagles in four sets; 21-25, 25-22, 16-25, 20-25.

Seniors Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had a team-high 23 digs and 12 kills. Senior Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) added 13 kills and 19 digs. Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) each had four blocks.

Post trailed 22-18 late in the first set, but was able to use a 3-0 run to cut the deficit to 22-21 helped by a kill from sophomore Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.). The Cougars scored the next three point to grab the first set.

The Eagles were able to come out victorious in the second set. Post came out the gates slow and trailed 10-6. Morgan Griffin had two kills and a block to lead the Eagles on a 4-0 run to tie the set. With the score tied 20-20, Post scored five of the final seven points to grab the victory. German and Root combined for a block to tie the match 1-1.

German recorded her only ace of the night in the third to put Post in front 6-5 early. Caldwell answered with an 11-2 run to put the set away.

Post looked to force a fifth set as it jumped ahead 5-0 out of the gate in the fourth. From there the teams traded points and the Eagles found themselves in front 14-11. The Cougars grabbed momentum from there with eight straight points and Post was unable to recover.
