Waterbury, Conn.- The Post University women's volleyball team defeated Nyack at home on senior day Saturday and prevailed in three consecutive sets; 25-21, 25-15, 25-18.
Senior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) led the team with 16 kills to go with 14 digs and classmate
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) added 10 digs and eight kills. Junior
Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) tied for the team lead in digs with senior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) totaling 14 digs each.
Post was ahead 11-9 before going on a 6-1 run giving itself a lead that Nyack could not come back from. Â German dominated the first set with seven kills.
The second set was no different for the Eagles as they went on an early 8-2 run giving themselves 9-6 advantage. Sophomore
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) stepped to the stripe to serve. Post followed with another impressive run, 11-3 and Nyack ended the set with an error as the Eagles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the match.
All of the seniors played a role in the third and final set of the regular season for Post.
Kissylla dos Reis (Minas Gerais, Brazil) had two digs,
Heaven Daluz had three kills in the third. Fellow seniors
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.),
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and German combined for seven kills in the set.
The seniors this season have recorded 78 victories in their four years and will look to add to that on Tuesday in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament against Chestnut Hill. First serve at Drubner is set for 7 p.m.
