Waterbury, Conn.- The Post University women's volleyball team took on Chestnut Hill at home in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinals and prevailed in three consecutive sets; 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 to advance to its third straight semifinals.
In the victorious effort seniors
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.),
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) and
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) that led the team statistically. Griffin led the team with 13 kills, German with 12 kills and Brown finished the day in double figures as well with 11 kills. Senior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had a team-high 19 digs and sophomore
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) added 39 assists. Â
Chestnut Hill battled early taking the lead 15-13 before the Eagles went on a terrorizing 12-1 run to end the first set. In the first, German who led the team with four kills. Â
In the second set Post went on a quick 7-0 run to give itself a 9-2 lead.
Morgan Griffin had four kills and is now just three shy of the 1,000 kill mark in her Eagle career. Post went on to win the second 25-19.
The Eagles seniors kicked it into overdrive in the third as they dominated Chestnut Hill 25-14.
Hailey Griffin tallied a kill and then Chestnut Hill committed a costly error ending the match.
Post University will now head to Wilmington, Del. to play in the CACC Semifinals against CACC North Division foe Caldwell. The match will be played on Saturday, November 19, first serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
